Toyota Land Cruiser FJ : Toyota has officially unveiled the all-new Land Cruiser FJ, a compact premium off-roader that blends retro styling with modern rugged capability, and it is headed for global markets including India in the coming years.

Unveiled at the 2025 Japan Mobility Show, the FJ is positioned as the smallest and most accessible entry in the Land Cruiser family, sitting below the 250 and 300 Series while promising serious off-road performance and a premium lifestyle feel.

Retro-Inspired Premium Exterior With Modern Touches

The Land Cruiser FJ brings back the classic FJ40’s boxy, upright silhouette with squared-off body panels, flared wheel arches, thick body cladding, and chunky three-piece bumpers that are easy to replace or customize.

A tailgate-mounted external spare wheel, roof rails, and large 18-inch black alloy wheels underline its adventure-ready DNA, while LED projector headlights with DRLs and fog lights add a contemporary premium edge.

Buyers can choose from colors like Smoky Blue, Platinum White Pearl, and Ash Gray, and the design concept of “PLAYFUL-DICE” combined with “FUNCTIONAL BEAUTY” gives the SUV a modern, agile look without losing its rugged soul.

At around 4,575–4,610 mm long, 1,855 mm wide, 1,890–1,960 mm tall, and with a 2,580 mm wheelbase, it is compact yet stands tall like a true off-roader.

Inside, the FJ takes inspiration from the Land Cruiser Prado with a utilitarian yet premium dual-tone dashboard, large grab handles, and physical controls that are easy to use while off-roading.

A 12.3–12.5-inch central infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto keeps you connected, while a 7-inch digital instrument cluster delivers clear driving data.

This engine is paired with a 6-speed Super ECT automatic transmission with sequential shift and a part-time four-wheel-drive system, giving it proper off-road capability straight from the factory.

The SUV rides on Toyota’s robust IMV ladder-frame platform that also underpins the Fortuner and Hilux, with 215–245 mm ground clearance, 700 mm wading depth, and a tight 5.5-meter turning radius that makes it surprisingly agile in the city as well as on rough trails.

Toyota Land Cruiser FJ India Launch, Price, and Competition

Toyota has confirmed that the Land Cruiser FJ will be launched in India by the end of 2028, with local production starting at the new Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad) plant in Maharashtra from August 2028.

The expected India price starts around ₹30 lakh ex-showroom, though some early estimates place entry variants closer to ₹20–26 lakh, positioning it against top-end Mahindra Scorpio-N 4×4 trims, Jeep Compass, and Tata Safari models.
